Jean Cassegrain founded the French luxury brand, Longchamp, in 1948. Longchamp originally specialised in making leather-bound pipes in their family tobacconist store. The company, which is still owned and run by the Cassegrain family, later turned its focus to manufacturing leather accessories, handbags and luggage. The galloping horse logo, now iconic to the brand was chosen in tribute to the famous Parisian racetrack.
Longchamp achieved worldwide success with the launch of its legendary Le Pliage foldable tote collection in 1993. Since then, Longchamp has cultivated a devoted following and brand with internationally desirable “it” bags like the Legende, the Cosmos and the Gatsby.
